| 12:13 | 群眾當中有一個人對耶穌說：「老師，請吩咐我的兄弟跟我分父親的遺產。」 | And one of the company said unto him, Master, speak to my brother, that he divide the inheritance with me. |
| 12:14 | 耶穌回答：「朋友，誰指派我為你們審案或替你們分家產呢？」 | And he said unto him, Man, who made me a judge or a divider over you? |
| 12:15 | 於是他繼續向大家說：「你們要謹慎自守，躲避各樣的貪婪；因為，一個人無論怎樣富裕，他的真生命不在乎他有多少財產。」 | And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth. |
| 12:16 | 於是耶穌對他們講一個比喻：「有一個財主，田產豐富； | And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: |
| 12:17 | 他心裏盤算：『我沒有夠大的地方來儲藏所有的榖物，該怎麼辦呢？』 | And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? |
| 12:18 | 他又自言自語：『對了，我要把原有的倉庫拆了，改建更大的，來存放五榖和別的貨物， | And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. |
| 12:19 | 然後我要對自己說，幸運的人哪，你擁有一切好東西，足夠你多年花用，慢慢享受，吃吃喝喝，過舒服的日子吧！』 | And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. |
| 12:20 | 可是，上帝要對他說：『你這個糊塗人，就在今夜，你得交出你的生命；那麼，你為自己所積存的一切財物要歸給誰呢？』」 | But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? thy…: Gr. do they require thy soul |
| 12:21 | 耶穌結論說：「那為自己積聚財富、在上帝眼中卻不富足的人也是這樣。」 信靠上帝 |
So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God. |
